Fellow Growers-
I'm posting to let you know that I've created a printed publication titled the "Giant Pumpkin Grower's Patch Guide". My intent in creating this resource was to provide a practical tool that serves as your trusty reference companion for all things related to growing a prize winning giant. Langevin and this website dominate when it comes to "how to". I complement these resources with a booklet that gives you information you need while in the patch. Here's what's included in the guide:
-Fluid Unit conversion table for measuring and applying chemicals/biologicals -Pumpkin growth benchmarks for 1400lbs (Ailts/Landry Benchmarks table) -Common insect pest identification pictures -Most current Weight estimation charts for giant pumpkins, field pumpkins, and watermelon (Courtesy of Wolf and Holub) -Soil test interpretation and amendment guidelines -Two pages of Month-by-month growing tips -Atlantic Giant Pumpkin glossary of terms -Descriptive photos of pumpkin culture practices -Additional resources page
If you are interested in a resource that puts all the documentation tools all into a single, colorful booklet, please consider the Patch Guide.
The Guide is available through the St. Croix Grower's Association website. The $15.00 purchase price includes S&H and your purchase supports the SCGA pumpkin club.

Thanks for considering and I hope it lends a hand in your patch.
For those already in possession of a guide, I would sincerely appreciate your input regarding its utility and how it can be improved for more effectiveness in the future.
Happy growing-

Hey Joe-
It would be nice if you'd consider including application rates for some of the more common biologicals we are using....mykos, biogrow, actinovate, biotamax, essential, fish oil, etc.
Sometimes its hard calculating how much of these products are needed per gallon or application, etc.

Joze-
your self promotion is a turn-off. This site is not meant for commercial advertisements. find another way to hawk your wares.
respectfully,
Joze

Good suggestion on the biological application rates...i'll give this serious consideration for the next edition. Keep the suggestions coming!!!
Regarding self-promotion...I agree, this site should maintain an integrity that is not dominated by commercial/self interests. However, the counter argument to this point is that #1, the proceeds benefit a club's financial health and #2, the guide is a resource that deserves some visibility because there's little/no other resource like it in the hobby.
Lastly, if you feel i need medication for multiple personality disorder, you may not be alone. :)
Double lastly, if you've not read a post by me before, please recognize the weak attempt at humor and sarcasm as a means to generate lively discussion.
