I was wondering if I used coals in a steel bucket inside hoop on cool nights would it have any ill effect on the plants inside hoops right jow I have coals in hoops to help warm up ground the heat stays in hoops for 24 hrs and stays nice and warm. if I keep it vented at top to let out any smoke will I be ok. there are easier ways to provide a little heat. candles put off an amazing amount of heat. gallon jugs of water store heat from the day and release it at night. even a light bulb will keep a cold frame from freezing.

There should be less than a 10 degree Fahrenheit change in temperature between daytime and nighttime for optimal growing. Also for optimal growing of most plants a temperature of 73.4 Fahrenheit should be maintained. Obviously unless you have a controlled environment this will not be possible. I mist at 80 degrees or above and close up the hoop house as temps drop below 70 degrees. A ceramic heater keeps my plants toasty at night.
