had 5 seeds to start this year with great genetics. they were all about to grow first real leaf and seemed rearing to go and then they were all dead. All I cant figure out why. i have a suspicion that the spray bottle i switched to could have had some sort of toxicity in it from something before. Anyhow, i would gratefully pay anyone for some seeds if possible. still would like to try and get something going.

You are not using garden soil to start them are you?
Corn seed maggots might have got them.

nope. I have them on a seedling heated mat. I didn't plant in potting soil. only thing I did differently this year was using a product similar to pro-mix but not quite the same. ill get the name in a bit. thanks for all the help guys.

If the pro-mix substitute got wet and sat for a while, pathogenic organisms could have developed. I used unsterilized potting soil last year(dry)and lost all my plants.

A little bad chemical residue in a spray bottle will do it every time... especially with a seedling.

Roofer, read up on damping off. In unsterilized medium it can be a real killer. Once it starts the seedlings go quick. The standard used to be a product called "nodamp" but it isn't available now. A little neem or chamomile tea can be used. LB posted something about Dawn detergent being used. A little web searching will give you a lot of info.
I don't know if that was the reason for your plants dying but it is something to guard against.
Still time for a good season!

I wet the soil with the dawn dishwashing detergent mix pre planting. 2T dawn in a gallon of water stops damping off (pythium) completely. Neem oil works great too, 2 oz in a gallon of water and wet soil before germination.
