My 1623 Wallace has 2 stems with 1 seed leaf on each from 1 seed. Should I split them and grow two 1623s?

I've seen something like that before, but not in my own seeds. That seed might have had two embryos, though if each only has one leaf then there might have been a bit of a mutation between the two embryos. I have heard of someone separating them and growing another plant, which might be a good choice with such a good seed as the 1623. You could probably also just cut the lesser seedling and grow the one that looks better.

Ben you might want to wash the dirt away and see how easy (or hard) it would be to separate.

Two 1623's, sounds like a good deal to me. This brings another question to mind. If you were to swap pollen between the two plants and grow out a pumpkin, is that considered a self or sib?

Big moon, An excellent question! Probably a self, but still there's doubt. Are Siamese twins exactly the same geneticly speaking?

I managed to separate them easily. Peeled the pot off, pulled some soil away and washed the remaining soil away. I am potting them up separately. Clearing the clogged sink drain, that will take more time. I'll pot them both up in pro mix. Maybe I will do six plants this year.

It would be a self pollination.

I am pretty sure it would be a sib because in order for it to be a self, the same sperm cell would have to pollinate the ovule (seed). I guess that two different sperm cells pollinated each individual ovule. So, it would be a sib pollination

Or maybe I am wrong. That is just my theory. Prehapse the original zygote broke in half for some reason and formed two embryos.

In which case it would be a self
