There are thousands of dollars worth of 2009 Wallace seeds in the process of germinating right now! How is yours coming along? I have one seed that hasn't sprouted after 48 hours...and it is a 2009. I'm sure I'm not the only grower stressing about a 2009 right now--share the pain with me, make me feel worse by telling me that yours popped in 36 hours.

I sent my 2009 to a better grower, but I had a 1723 take multiple days but it finally germinated. Hopefully your 2009 comes up in the next 24-48.

I have to wait 365 days before mine pops:) Stressing after 2 days is a little early . i heard they take a little longer on some of the 2009's. It will be ok...Chris said so:)

Mine germinated and slowly dried up and died. Not sure why. I'm so disapointed

Mine was pushing the dirt up in 72 hours and it was another 24 hours after that before it was fully out of the dirt. Its not a super aggressive seedling.

Two of the pumpkin seeds I started on the 10th of April was the 312 Weibel (2009 Wallace x Open). The seeds were not fully developed, but just yesterday one of them started slowly pushing up thru the soil! :)

My 2009s were the last to pop last year.I like the peat pot method.I think the paper towel method has a greater chance of finding a hot spot in a chamber. The peat pot is more of a buffer for uniform temps.I will start my seeds tomorrow & let you know about Tuesday.

I started two. One has started & the other one I'm pretty sure isn't going to go. When you squeeze the seed little bubbles of water come out of the tip. I soaked it one hour, but it had a extra big hole in its tip. Not good. I think it will be mush in a couple of days.

Common talk when I was well imbibed with some buddies years back was "boy, I'll knock from here to El Paso", sounds like the seeds hit "El Paso".

Jim, I thought you retired from pumpkin growing!??? I heard that Jack is back too? And I'm guessing Steve too? And Thad? What about Kirk Mombert? You guys must have heard that it isn't raining in California this year.

Its been 96 hours since starting and the 2009 has not come up yet. I decided to look and luckily it has a root. I guess that mine is a fairly late starter, but it seems that all of my seeds are like that.

Still to wet & cold to start our seed. We'll give it another week before we start it. We need to get the soil dried where our plants are going, install the heating cables & put up all our hoop houses. Hopefully we can be out in the patch by May 10th.
Good luck everyone, Jane & Phil

Mine has been in the pot for 5 full days and nothing. I have germed 18 seeds in last 2 weeks and that is the only one that didn't pop in 3 days. I also noted a small pin hole in its tip. oh well that's why we start more than we can grow.
