One of the things spoke of at Orlando was slowing plant down due to unnecessary pruning of tendrils, etc.,,,Could some heavy hitters please respond and say whether they prune tendrils and if they feel this affects the speed of plant growth??

tendrils are there to crab on and attach themselves for the natural anchoring of a pumpkin plants vines. same as is the case with cukes, squash, etc. we have always cut the tendrils off because we anchor the vines by buring with soil. we may try a plant this year by not cutting the tendrils to compair growth.(using two plants from the same seed stock) personally? i dont see a big advantage either way. if you cut the entire tip of a vine (dead ending) then of course the vine will stop growing however i dont see how a small tendril removal would stop or slow the vines growth. pap
