Don't worry So.Cal., If you miss this season, I'll save you that special seed from my new WR pumpkin grown this season for your next years crop. Hell, I'll give you 4 or 5 of them if you promise not to miss that season too!

Started yesterday, the Mrs just phoned me and said 'I'm in a travel agent, shall we go on holiday tomorrow morning?'.

Better to go now than in the summer but the seed have not germinated yet. Damn!

I always start on 420. Told that date brings good luck. Another tale is that planting during the blood moon is the way to go.

Do you start the long gourd seeds about the same time?
I've been looking at the hoop house over the broad beans and thinking I have to get it moved off. It's so covered with fir and cedar pollen now it's probably not letting much light through anyway. When I do that I'll set up the pumpkin hoops. Soon, very soon. Soak seeds next week. !!
Thanks

Glen. I do the same. Hoophouses are difficult to get the plastic on the PVC during windy days.

The snow has just finally melted, but the garden is a soaking wet mess. It will take some time to dry it out. Hopefully we can get the hoop houses ready to put out soon to help keep those areas of the patch dry. Another late start to the season.
Good luck All,
Jane & Phil

Farming- a bunch of catastrophies that result in a lifestyle

All the kids planted on 4/6, all the kids up on 4/9, all the kids have their first true leaf, and with the nice weather have been getting 'hardened off' in preparation to go into their final home! Looking at next Saturday if mother nature behaves herself.
