Ok, so I have to ask the question that everyone is thinking about. What would you do with a Marshmallow seed? (335 Scherber ’11 (x 1734.5 Steil), Matt Debacco's current winter project pumpkin was just named the Marshmallow).

I won one of the Marshmallow seeds in the UMGPG 2014 seed auction, but I am not sure if it will arrive in time for the 2014 growing season. But that won't stop me from dreaming.

My current top 4 seeds are:
1734.5 Steil
1791 Holland
1874.5 Mathison
1843.5 Geddes 2012

I would probably cross the Marshmallow seed with the 1874.5 Mathison, since this is the reverse cross of the current world record. But if I really wanted to expand on the genetic content, I would cross it with the 1843.5 Geddes.

Hi "Pumpkin Hare":

Marshmallow will be harvested on April 13th with the seeds harvested that afternoon. I typically do a quick overnight dry and then mail them out so (assuming there are seeds) your seed should be in the mail on the 14th. This should still put the seeds in the ideal window for seed starting.

Looking over your list I like a Marshmallow x 1843.5 Geddes (and reverse) cross, but that is just my opinion.

Lastly, please e-mail me your address so I can ensure the seed (lets think positive) gets out to you the next day.

What would I do with a marshmallow seed.I would pass it onto a better grower then myself,so it would have a better chance to grow to its full potential.I would give it to our local club president who works hard every year to get the biggest and best pumpkin.

According to this article "Giant Marshmallows Beat Snowballs Any Day". So it looks like Snowball may have some tough competition this year from Marshmallow...
