Hello Everybody, I wanted to start this post to see if anybody has had any success at creating and actually fishing a hydroponic system that has been successful and has had good results. Also I was wondering if anybody out there knew of any hydoponic pumpkin contest that has a prize reward for first place? If not why not have one. I beleave if someone could perfect this method of growing with the AG type then we could potentally be entering into a new would of Giants.

I tried growing a hydroponic pumpkin last year. After much experimenting I got the nutrient levels right but I had no good way of keeping the heat in the reservoir from getting way to high, Eventually the plant died off at its stem and all I had left was a few vines that had created tap roots into the soil. I do believe you could grow a giant if you had a chiller for the reservoir. The leaves were certainly large and strong, pointing upwards while it was alive.

A thought along these lines: Maybe the GPC (sorry for the thought, as if the GPC doesn't have a lot to do already) could generate interest/sponsors/advertising/publicity amongst a multitude of growers both old and new with having a totally soiless/hydroponic category. Prize money/structure possibly could be generated by hydroponic businesses. Our current supporters such as RTI etc... would be benefitting from such a category as well (IMO).
