Was thinking of growing it (1789wallace), I heard it was aggresive. Anybody?

Grew it in 2012, excellent root system, aggressive vine growth, best growing pumpkin in my patch so far...unfortunately it developed a little blossom end split in August (thin blossom end, pumpkin went some % light)...otherwise it would have been my PB so far.

I grew a nice one in 2012, it is in my diary. It did go a bit light at 18%.

15% Light for me also in 2012. If you get lucky, you will get one that goes heavy.

This is a link to the page at pumpkinfanatic that list progeny of the 1789. There are a light of - (minus signs) on the list of weights for sure but there are also some big ones. You can also click on the crosses (ex. 1872 Wallace) and then click on their progeny, gets complicated here, to see what grand kids the 1789 is throwing, if you are thinking of a X of a 1789 X. IF that makes sense?

Very aggressive plants with prolific root systems. Some of the fruit are ribby which is scary if they get a dill ring.

Aggressive is the word. Both in the vines and roots. Plan on it going light and then you won't be surprised at the end of the season. Most go light. Great plant however.

Fastest grower that I've ever seen. Ours developed a soft spot on a rib near the dirt @ the last week of July. When we chopped it up on Day 40 (Aug 1st), it was estimated at 986#. Good luck. Jane & Phil

Mine was right on chart 1305. The plant had some serious disease issues which had nothing to do with the seed. Very tall fruit.

I find this interesting as I have one to plant myself, I'm looking forward to see the aggressive growth of the plant,
it does make me wonder if the plant is able to take up more of certain types of nutrients, and not enough of others?
