I just checked Cooperstown NY Chambers of Commerce and read that they will no longer host the weigh off 2014 due to cost. http://www.thedailystar.com/localnews/x1262677336/Chamber-cuts-PumpkinFest-plans-replacement

Yes this is sad. It was a great weigh-off site. I met a lot of great growers there. Andy Wolf is working hard at finding a new weigh-off site in New York. Andy is a great guy and I am sure he will get the job down to have a replacement for Cooperstown.

Thanks for the link Laura, I had not seen that.

We had 10 great years of memories and I hope that whatever we come up with to replace it will be just as special. We have nothing set yet and are still looking at our options.

Sad news for sure I did make it to 1 weigh-off there it was very special to weigh your pumpkin in the shadow of the baseball hall of fame field. I really liked the recreation of the old baseball games no doubt it was a special site it will be missed.

We are gonna miss the Cooperstown site. It was an easy drive for us and being a baseball family everyone had a good time there. Hanging out at the baseball hall of fame, hotels on Lake Ostego, Pumpkin Regatta, the boys getting Nolan Ryans signature at DoubleDay field and winning a few ribbons over the years are good memories for myself, Dyberry patch and our children. The New York growers are top notched and put on a great weigh off. It will be missed.

Now that Cooperstown is closed down, what's the next closest pumpkin regatta? It looks like the Burlington, VT event is also on hold. I'd be very grateful for any information. Otherwise we might be hosting our own race here in Ithaca.
