There are two different classes of wet treatments for seeds, sanitation and disinfection. There are many ways to sanitize the surface of the seed as mentioned above. This will remove pathogens on and in the seed coat. For disinfection (which covers sanitation too) the seed industry can use peracetic acid. This has the ability to eliminate pathogens that are located within the seed. Given the cost of raising a giant pumpkin seed disinfection should be a must. It is very easy to assume that your seed is disease free, however the seed harvesting and trading techniques used here lends itself to bad elements within the seed. PA is used most in the medical and food industry as a no rinse sanitizer. It is a challenge to get it in some countries and easy in others. I can only get it in 5 gallon pails for about $100 US. 5 gallons could disinfect thousands of seeds. Guaranteed clean if soaked the proper amount of time. You may be able to do some research on concentrations and times for common seeds and adjust them for the size of the seed.
