Saw a video on this last night

Just 1mg – there are 50mg in a single tablet – dissolved into water with your plants will make them last a week longer.’
He says nitric oxide, the chemical in the drug which relieves impotence by relaxing the muscles on blood vessels, causing them to dilate, also slows down the dying process in plants.

‘Now scientists are working on ways to market a gardeners’ version of Viagra for plants.

Which is more important the plant or you

Wow, Hard to believe. I never know if it's BS or not with this group so I had to do a search, and yes if not a joke, it is true.

Every year my wife enters the "longest lasting Rose bloom" in our local fair. We got it this year!
Now, where to buy some? I'd buy it on the street but I wouldn't want to get stiffed.

Wow, I was thinking about growing long gourds. This potentially adds a whole new dimension to that activity. will any of our usual pumpkin related suppliers carry this as an amendment? By-the-way, it sounds like just a little will go a long way!

I'm reminded of the cartoon photo of Buzz with Woody and pointing and saying "And those are Timmy's mom's toys. They have the same names as us".

I was wondering why all the pumpkins looked blue, as I was probing for any potential holes and of course automatic ejection from the competition.

Interesting topic Baitman.

Nitric Oxide has been noted to affect plants as you have described. If NO allows for normal respiration they may indeed be onto something.

Delaying the onset of senescence or slowing down the process of dying is what this hobby is mostly about. Extending the plants growth curve in any fashion will someday allow a grower to reach 3 or even a remarkable 4 thousand pound fruit. I believe it is not only possible but highly likely very soon.

My talk in Florida will describe how we get there by finding, understanding and utilizing the plants fountain of youth. All of this will be accomplished in research along these lines and many more. As Giant growers in the coming years learning the importance of a plants needs to sense their environment and react to it will drive weight gains further.

In a nutshell the more you can do to provide a stable environment the better. Such an atmosphere reduces stress and allows the neurobiology of the plants appical appendages to continue in a balance growth harmony fostering a climate of bigger and bigger fruit.

IF I remember correctly, I think Ward Cleaver was one of the first to be up to something with this subject because of every single morning he would ask June Cleaver, "Dear was I a bit hard....ok I'll stop right there...your right...the word beaver has no place in this discussion...
