In Ron's video he said you guys use over head water. I was just wondering which watering heads you use. Also how much hand watering do you do and do use a special hand watering wand?

hey sub

we do have a soaker hose system along with a new deep well and pumps etc, and will use this system some in 2014.
in the past though all our pumpkins were watered with three different methods
1. rain
2. overhead sprinklers on a tri-pod placed through-out the patch
3. hand watering---mostly sept on out
once a week we use three water totes to mix and distribute water soluable ferts, biologicals and such.we have a small very efficient electric pump attached to a water hose we use to draw out and distribute the mix.

pap, -- what electric pump do you use. Looking for one to use on my 350 gallon tank in 2014. Last year I tranfered to my 50 gallon PTO pump sprayer and watered that way but very time consuming.

so what would be better for my situation, a water toat with a pump or to connect my hose up to a water purfication/dechlorination filter and have a inline fert injector connected to that? I would think that this method of watering would work fine.

Ashton,
Be sure to use a back flow preventer if you are tied directly into the root water source.

we use a WAYNE PORTA PUMP, 1/2 HP MODEL PC4 (ELECTRIC OF COURSE)VERY PLEASE WITH THIS SET UP.

IT IS A RUGGED PUMP WITH INLET AND OUTLET AREA PLUS A HANDLE FOR EASY TRANSPORT. YOU WILL NEED TO PRIME BEFORE USING BUT NO BIG DEAL AS IT HAS A PRIME AREA NUT COVER TO REMOVE WHEN ADDING PRIME WATER.

TO SET IT UP I USED A THREADED MALE 3/4 INCH, THEN AT THE END OF THIS A 3/4 IN PVC STRAIGHT PIECE APPROXIMATELY A FT OR SO LONG.
THEN I GLUED A 3/4 INCG ELBOW (FACING DOWN)AT THE END OF THIS 1 FT PIECE.
I MEASURED FROM BOTTOM OF THIS ELBOW TO BOTTOM OF TANK ,CUT AND GLUED A STRAIGHT PIECE OF 3/4 IN PVC WITH ELBOW AS WELL AT THE BOTTOM (TO REST ON THE TANKS BOTTOM)

NOTE WELL--- IF YOU TRY AND USE REGULAR WATER HOLS THE PRESSURE OF THE PUMP WILL COLLAPSE THE HOSE LINE.

HOPE THIS HELPS. WILL DEFINATELY SAVE YOU A LOT OF TIME.
