For Xmas my brother is letting me pick out what ever one I want/ find I was wondering what is the best or most accurate soil moister, ph, and temp meter?

If it measures different nutrients that would be a bonus as well :)

It's been my experience that most don't work very well. Could be that I want them to be as accurate as the lab and I haven't found that. I do use a moisture sensor in commercial fields and it woks great but it takes a lot of experience to interpret the readings and it ain't cheap. 300+ depending on number of probes that stay in the field

It would be nice to have an accurate soil meter instead of taking a sample,sending it off and waiting weeks just to get the pH.

As I have said in chat I have used a meat thermometer before, which has worked fine. Plunge the probe into the soil when checking. As for moisture meters, you can buy a ph meter with a built in water meter from home depot. The moisture meter works fine, but don't rely on the ph meter. Also, there are not any meters out there that measure nutrients individually, and its only common sense that those meters that say "nutrient level" that goes from 1-10 is a bunch of baloney because nutrients aren't measured as a whole, but individually. If you are being funded by a school and you want to have a experiment, take advantage of the funding and get monthly soil and tissue tests. After all, its in the name of science :)
