I am personally running a contest for anyone that grows my 1734.5 Steil 13 seed next season. This pumpkin won me $2000 at our local weigh-off and I am giving half of that ($1000) to the person that grows the largest pumpkin on the seed next season. There are very few rules that apply other than it must be weighed at a GPC event and not be ruled damaged (DMG). If there is a tie for the largest pumpkin the prize will be split. The contest will end November 1, 2014 at which time I will gladly send the winner a check. Every seed I send out contains a unique identifier inside the package with a number on it. I ask that you keep this number so that I know where your seed originated. Since I am running this contest myself I reserve the right to make the final decision in regards to the winner. Yes, I am growing the seed also.

I prefer people support clubs and auctions for seeds. I have been getting lots of requests for seeds, even before I opened the pumpkin. I am trying to get through all the emails but I am honoring the club requests for seeds first. Then we will see what is left over to send out.

Scott, Not requesting any seeds now, my request would be for South East South Dakota Giant Pumpkin Growers. I had a question about some thing else.
Still think you have a great idea.

Nice Scott! A very generous prize. It should make next season extra interesting for you, and those who grow the seed.

Scott, so now you have to pay people to grow your seed? Just kidding. If I pick up a package that has a 1734 I'll show it some dirt.
What I wanted to say is how much I enjoy your diary, the pictures of your patch and how you keep us informed on how your year is going. I always look forward to your postings. It is definitely one of the most serious pumpkin patches going. No pressure on you now! LOL
Thanks for that very generous offer to the pumpkin community.
