Hello Pumpkin Growing Community,

Over a rack of ribs after work, Manure Man and I were discussing the theory of suspending a pumpkin in animation. I saw that Ray Villafane had one on facebook the other day, I think it was in Japan.

Manure Man was talking about sucking all of the air out of a glass container, leaving the pumpkin inside to age flawlessly. My question to that, and one that still has me confused is, once you suck out all of the air... Then what is left inside?

A pumpkin with no air.

Just replace the air with nitrogen. There is no possible way to make a suitably clear container that can withstand having a vacuum. Unless you are the inventor of transparent aluminum......

What was in the sauce on those ribs?, lol. or how many pops had you had before the theory's started to flow? lol. I vacuum pack all my seeds, in plastic bags or glass jars. I suppose you could make one really big bag. Just to add another theory. lol.....Terry

I found some feild pumpkins growing in a creek.&i argued about growing ag's in water till i was blue in the face cause of the suspended animation of it.but wound up red in the face.cause the skins on these things is delicate, they put off heat &moistore themselves&the gota breathe .seems like it would be like keeping a potato fresh in a plastic bag.

You ever had ribs without your favorite liquid refreshment?
24 cans in a case, 24 hours in a day- no coincidence.
But I should talk, I posted here yesterday but must of forgot to hit the "post reply" button, and it was by best ever, honest.
Anyway Monster G, I was thinking you should put one in orbit, the last frontier. The prefect airless environment, it could be called- Project Harvest Moon.

Ya Don, that is exactly what I was wondering, thanks. Terry, I was pretty sober then, LOL Initiating project Harvest Moon, but actually in all seriousness, the only thing harvesting under the moon around here these days is a bunch of Deer in the Yard and a black bear at Manure Mans that really likes corn!
