I like the idea of crossing but you never see the results til the next year. The last few seasons I have bought squash seeds and they ended up being orange. With the debate on colour,I think there should still be another class which is a true greenie. No white on it.

the P x s always go orange the next year, in my opinion, and I think most all would agree with that. I'm just curious what new crosses were done this year for a long term multi-year project, especially if anyone has crossed a squash with any of the "new" pumpkin genetics (1789/2009/220, etc.)

Only 1 F1 cross 1160 Cantrell DMG (1596 Werner 10 x 959* Platte 09). Did a couple F1xF1. 615 Cantrell (913* Boyce 11 x 1221.5 Robinson 12) 907.5 Cantrell (604.5 Cantrell 11 x 806 Shymanski 10) Planting a bunch of these 2 here since only 25% chance of getting a greenie

I may have an interesting seed to plant next year. I planted a 1486.6 Jarvis 11 and an 1135 Jutras 12. I wanted to cross the 1486.6 with the 1135, but every attempt aborted. Around the middle of August I had a 1486.6 female but no 1135 males. So I used 5 males from my 1872 Wallace 12 plant. The 1486.6 plant is still going, the pumpkin is green, but it's very small---under 200 lbs. The pumpkin is now over 45 days old so I'm just hoping for a few mature seeds. This cross could be interesting next year and from the above posts---I guess there is only a 25% chance of producing a big green squash.
