There like a box of chocolates, you never no what you'll get! tools.pumpkinfanatic.com has alot of info on seeds. Even if you have good seeds you need, good soil, and favorable weather. Finding someone in your area that grows and visit them, pick there brain on how to grow them. There is a links section with alot of clubs you can join. You could go throw the diarys, find a orange pumpkin you like, put your cursor/arrow from your computer over the little envelope, there email will show up on the bottom, ask them. Alot of growers are harvesting there pumpkins now, for weigh-offs, alot of them when the seeds are dried offer them on the seed exchange post. You send them a self addressed stamped bubble envelope (sasbe)they return it with seeds, for free. These are the best genetics in the world for seeds, you still have to be able to grow them though.

Besides pumpkin fanatic site. Check out photos from diaries and talk to growers about their plants they grew pumpkins you liked. They likely did your type search before they decided on what they grew.

932 Grande seeds available.

Went Heavy for Jack, shinny orange and goeZ HEAVY and he won the Howard Dill this year. Is the 1810 Stevens crossed with the 1450 Wallace.... I captured the orange out of the 1450/1161 line... two years straight....I have the reverse cross as well.

I generally start the year with quite a few plants and my son does a couple as well. I try to help him pick the seeds for him that are the easiest to grow. He puts in a good effort each year but there are some plants that there are no way he could grow. So, yes, there are some that are very easy to grow, some tolerate heat better, some are more disease resistant. When you have 11 or 12 plants all growing in a patch you get to see this first hand. The 1450 that just grew my 1507 and my sons 1231 is the easiest seed I have ever grown. I credit this to the 1303 Sweet which is also a great growing seed. If you grow in a hot climate with disease pressure I suggest you pick a seed like my 1450 or one similar that is very easy to grow.

those are more than characteristics, they are results. results caused by
1. orange genetic history
2. great weather
3. disease free conditions
4. a fine tuned well balanced soil
5. critter control-mice-moles-chucks and voles
6. more great weather
7. knowing what/when to add nutrients and when to hold off
8. more great weather
9. pick seeds from a climate like yours
10.seeds from top growers are very desirable and in demand
