My budget is limited, sooooo, just a question. There are pumpkin lifting rings with straps, and just lifting straps with no ring. Is it safe to lift fruit in the 900 to 1300 lb range with just straps and no ring? I would prefer to buy just straps if I can get away with it. Thanks for the replies. Jim

if you don't want to spend the $$ for a ring just pick up a 13" tire rim and away you go! Should be fine for a kin that size.

I used an aluminum car rim for years, with straps. I went to the local junk yard and picked it out , told him what I was doing with it and he gave it to me if I brought back pictures of it being used. They are still on his wall today. The lifting rings being sold today are really nice but there are more ways to skin a cat. If you can afford it then go for it you will never regret it. If not then work your way up to it. Straps and a turn buckle work just fine.

Jim,
A simple tractor clevis will do just fine with the straps.

Jim I don't see why it wouldn' t work I have been doing it for years. It has done over 1,000 pounds for me. I am not sure why you need a ring could someone explain to me.

I have used the Amish-made straps that Ray sells for years and they are great. No ring. These strap sets have 8 straps (not six) and are nice thick smooth "seatbelt" material. I can lift a nice shiny orange one with it and not damage the skin.
