Everywhere there are growers
|
Team-Pumpkin believes that while our pumpkins continue to reach ever higher weights there are mile stones we all pass as we improve as growers. One that stands out is the coveted 1000 pound pumpkin. It marks the point where the grower has mastered the essentials to go forward and is a milestone that deserves recognition. Other groups have recognized this in the past and a patch was created to mark the achievement.
With pumpkins in the patches well on their way to 1K, it’s time to remind growers that Team-Pumpkin has had Half-Ton Pumpkin Club patches made and would like to see the qualifying growers get them so they can wear them with pride. Any grower who has ever grown a qualifying pumpkin is eligible to order their patch. Clubs may order them for past, current or future growers that qualify.
These custom embroidered patches are approximately 3 ½ x 3 ½ inches with ‘iron-on’ backing or can be stitched. The cost is only $2.00 per patch with shipping included. A photo of the patch is posted at this link http://www.bigpumpkins.com/Diary/DiaryViewOne.asp?eid=194943 All the feedback about the patch quality has been excellent.
Please contact Bart AT team-pumpkin.org for further details.

"One that stands out is the coveted 1000 pound pumpkin."
Yes, that is the average growers goal, and is still mine since 2002. PB 942, went 15% light.
I think this is a great idea.
Thank you team pumpkin for thinking of us that have not made it.

After 6 years I seem to have a very difficult time at achieving this "Mile Stone".
If I pay $2.00, can you paint one Green and mail it to me ?

This would be a great Idea as Jeremy stated were Giant Squash growers have grown one over 1,000 pounds as well. How can I get a hold of Bart? I have grown a couple pumpkins over 1,000 pounds at GPC weigh off sites.

This is a great idea! While most of us will never grow an 1800 pounder, this recognition for those who grow a 1,000+ pounder is something that is needed.

Great Idea It is a major achievement most growers that I see locally never put enough effort into there attempts to make it.Maybe a rossette with the patch may work also,or as a separate deal?? Im interested in patch.

I have to thank Team-Pumpkin for picking up the ball (pumpkin?) on this. 1000 pounds for the nonprofessional grower is a real landmark, sort of like a graduation. This is a personal battle for many of the growers, a goal of sorts. Thank you Team-Pumpkin. Marv

For those who may not know, it was Marv who originally had the idea and designed the Half Ton Pumpkin Club patch. We at Team-Pumpkin feel it is important enough that we ask him if we could assume responsibility for continued production and distribution. We all owe a debt of thanks to Marv for his original efforts to promote the patch. Thank you Marv.
