Hey Everybody,

Got 4 really nice pumpkins going right now (all in the 450-775 pound range). Got a question for everybody though. The past few nights it has been rather cold here (55 degrees- 60 degrees) which is a little cooler than the normal. The day tempature has also been a little bit cooler than lately. 5 days ago all of my pumpkins were doing 30 or more pounds per day, now they are all down to the mid 20ies as of today. Which brings me to my question... Is it the cool weather that is slowing them down or what? I would like to get them back on a nice growing pace ASAP.

Thanks everybody and best of luck this year,

Martin

It is probably the cool weather. When the weather cools down the microbes in the soil slow down so less nutrients become available. When it warms up things should start going better again.

Cooler weather usually slows them down. How old are the pumpkins?

The youngest is 30 days old today. The oldest is also the biggest at 35 days old.

WOW! Some nice numbers so far Martin.
I heard the jetstream is about 400-500 miles south of where it usually is at this time of year. This is the reason for the cooler weather. According to a MN weatherman, this could continue for the next 12-14 days. Good luck to you.
