This has probably been mentioned before, but instead of a pumpkin being set 10 feet out, what is the square footage of the plant in order for it to set? A plant 10 feet out in a patch that is 30 X 30 should have about 300 sq feet of plant. I have a narrow patch, so 10 feet out for me would be maybe 180 sq feet. Do I need to set pumpkins closer to 20 feet out?

Thanks
Dave

You say 30 x 30 ,That = 900, not 300! But closer than 20 ft out is usually more desirable ! preferably 12-17 out !

I think he means 10ft X 30ft of plant behind the pumpkin would = 300ft behind it. I think 200-300 sq ft is ideal. I'm interested in what other people have to say. I also think there has already been threads on this topic. Look a couple pages back, I think I saw it last month ago or so.

Fisssh, I meant that in a 900 sq foot patch, you could have about 300 square feet of plant at pollination time.

Mosquitoman, you have at least what I was thinking. I really don't have that 300 sq foot of plant until about 15 feet out. I think now I've got one to set (I'm hoping) about 18 feet out. It's set late, but hopefully it will be all right.

Thanks for the replies gentlemen!!!
