2226 Hoornstra, about 5.5 feet long. It had a stronger house mate but it started flat vining and double vining so I removed it.

I had to extend my hoop houses. We are having a cold and wet spring here in Vermont, not good pumpkin weather for at least another week. The electric bill is now very high. The 2144 is doing well and has shown its first pumpkin. The 2226 Hoornstra (not pictured) is a bit behind this one. It's had some bad luck between the weather and me but it's a trooper.

Should I keep these hoop houses a little longer or scrap them? My zip code 05262 if some of the pros could check my weather forecast and advise?

We might be starting to see the end of an awful spring here in New England. The sun was out today. I'm on the 5th hoop house expansion so I took one down today. Its going down to 40 degrees tonight but warmer nights are slowly approaching. 2144 Barron is 12.5 feet long. 2226 Hoornstra is 11 feet and is still in its hoop house. Good side vines on both.

The hoop houses are gone. I hope it warms up soon. 40.1 degrees last night, hopefully done with those temps!

I've been away the last 3 weekends and hadn't gotten my wind fencing up. I paid a price for that. I lost 2 secondaries, many roots and many leaves on the 2144, a bad hit to what had been a strong plant. The 2226 Hoornstra was less beaten up. Our terrible spring continues, 39 degrees last night and the same tonight. Fall starts around August 15th here and our summer is shrinking fast.

Having lost 2 secondaries close to where the pumpkin will set should I consider cutting the main vine off and using a remaining secondary as the new main? I'm not sure how much losing those two will cost the pumpkin.
