Hi all, totally new to the big pumpkin game but giving it a go down here in Rixeyville Virginia. Started 7 seeds on 4/10, had 1 rot. ended up with 2 each 2184.00 Marintzer 2023, 2144.5 Rodebaugh 2023 & 1755.00 Rodebaugh 2024. They popped up quick and I had a blanket over the germinator with no lights on so all but one Marintzer got a touch leggy off the start. I'm growing these with my cousin at his farm and we just chose 2 spots with lot's of organic matter, garden/bonfire area and old pig pen plowed them deep, laid heating cable and put up 2 7x12 tents with thermostatic windows, heaters and fans. One plant went in 5/3 and the second 5/4. All the back ups are still hanging out in there with them.... probably a dumb idea.

They're trying to escape! Bit of a change in plans, we're going to keep 2 pumpkins at each of our "main" sites and run them out opposite directions. This decision was 2 fold. 1 we didn't want ot move all the "backups" as they had gotten pretty large and 2 the 2 primaries were both growing the "wrong" way. Pic is of the 2239.5 Marintzer, it's busting out and running secondaries.

Took down 1 of the 2 tents. First taste of real sunlight led to some droopage but we have male and female flowers. now just need to open up some space to run.
