Growing the 2222 Godzilla again in 2025 since I harvested some good seeds from last years pumpkin. 1 plant will be grown in 650 square feet the other in around 150 square feet. Im 2 weeks ahead of last years pace. No heating cables or hoop houses this year. Started the seeds in doors April 15th. In the ground April 28th. Spring started off cold but now we jumped from cold to warm very quickly here in northern New Jersey. Now it's all up to mother nature and will see if i can get a PB 15 miles from NYC.

Today marks 1 month old from seed sprout which was April 20th and transplanted outside April 28th at 8 days old. No hoop houses or cables strictly mother nature. Noticed cucumber beetles yesterday which I sprayed the plants. Some wind damage to the leaves but the stong west winds we had past 2 days helped the plants lay down finally. A bit weathered but not horrible. Second plant is close to this size and started to lay down also.

2222 Geinger x Self main is about 7 foot long with 6 secondaries starting to get going. Buried 4 of the longer secondaries today. Tilled the patch 2nd time today also. Killed one cucumber beetle. Sprayed all seasons horticulture oil on foliage. Weather this week will be sunny and highs in the mid 80s to 90 degree range by mid/end of week. Things should finally start to grow nicely after a colder wetter May.

Heat with no rain in the near future. Upper 80s to low 90s for several days see some relief this weekend then back to the upper 80s next week. Shading the main vine with an umbrella. Burried the first set of secondaries. They are starting to pop out nicely lately. I've seen lots of posts with secondaries not popping. I feel It could be a straggler seed to do this. Also I strongly feel when these seeds are started early and given the natural light and environment they do better shooting these secondaries out. Also I grow my pumpkins towards the morning sun which then the sun will set at the stump. This i believe can matter also. Its the pull of energy the sun moon and tides have a certain mechanism to get these plants going. Im a strong believer of this.
